About AIEEE
Q.1      What is AIEEE?
Ans.   AIEEE stands for All India Engineering Entrance Examination. 
It is an common entrance exam for admission to Engineering and
Architecture/Planning Programmes at undergraduate level in 
various Institutions, like National Institutes of Technology (NITs),
Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Deemed 
Universities, Technical Institutions & other Govt. funded Institutions. 
           Q. 2     When was AIEEE Introduced?
         Ans.    AIEEE was introduced in the year 2002.
         Q.3      Who is the Conducting body of AIEEE?
Ans.    AIEEE is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education 
(CBSE),New Delhi.
Q.4      What were NITs previously known as?
Ans.   NITs were previously known as Regional Engineering 
Colleges (RECs) and governed by their respective State Government. 
Q.5      What is the schedule of Examination of AIEEE 2011?
Ans.    The AIEEE 2011 offline Mode will be conducted on 
            24th April 2011(Sunday).
           Timings:
           B.E./B.Tech.          : Paper-I  9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
           B.Arch./B.Planning   : Paper-II 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
           Online Exam (for first 01 Lac candidates only)  will be conducted
 between 1st  to 15th May, 2011.
Q.6      What is the full form of NITs & How many NITs are there in India?
Ans.    NITs stands for National Institutes of Technology. There are 30 NITs 
in India in  the following cities :]Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut,
 Durgapur, Hamirpur,Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jameshedpur, Kurukshetra, Nagpur, Patna,
 Raipur, Rourkela, Silchar, Surathkal, Mangalore, Srinagar, Surat, 
Tiruchirappalli, Warangal, Goa, Pudhucherry, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, 
Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal- Pradesh, Sikkim.  
Q.7      What is the Eligibility criteria for AIEEE?
Ans.   Student must secure at least 50% marks belonging to General Category
 or 40% marks belonging to SC, ST, OBC & PD categories, aggregate in the
 qualifying examination in 10+2 with PCM.There is no minimum age limit but it
 must not be more than 25 years. In the case of SC, ST, & PD candidates
 the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years. There are three attempts
 for all the candidates in the consecutive years. 
Q.8     What is the reservation criteria for AIEEE?
Ans.   The reservation criteria for AIEEE is as per the Govt. rules of India.
 15% -SC, 7.5% ST, 27% for OBC & 3% for PD in each category. 
There is 50% reservation for the home state & the placement is totally
 based on All India rank. 
Q.9     What is the syllabus & Pattern of examination of AIEEE?
Ans.   The syllabus of AIEEE is based on Class XI & XII board 
CBSE/NCERT. The question paper of AIEEE is of objective type. There 
will be two question papers of three hours duration. The 1st question papers 
will consist of three separate sections of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics
 of equal weightage for B.E/B.Tech course. Candidates who want 
to go for B.Arch/B.Planning they have to appear in the 2nd papers it
 consists of Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing. 
Q.10    How many students were appeared in AIEEE 2010? How many
 seats were there for both the courses?
Ans.   10,65,100 students were appeared in AIEEE 2010. Approximately 
26,816 seats for B.E/B.Tech & 936 for B.Arch/B.Planning in various institutions.
